About Me: I worked for the Star from late 1970 through late 1979, at which time I joined DC government. Other jobs have been with Hill and Knowlton, Amnesty International, Eddie Bauer Corporate, and CARE. I moved to the Seattle area for the Eddie Bauer job and to Atlanta for the CARE job.
Stayed at CARE until May 2009. Started working for Habitat for Humanity in October this year. Also freelancing as a writer, and media/ communications consultant. Committed to staying in Atlanta to be near family -- aging parents and on the other end, son and his new family.

“Laugh If You Like, Ain’t a Damn Thing Funny: The Life Story of Ralph ‘Petey Greene,” as told to Lurma Rackley.” The book, self-published in 2004 through Xlibris, is based on Rackley’s Saturday interviews with Greene, a D.C. radio and television personality who rose from a life of poverty, crime and addiction to become a sort of folk hero and a champion for the poor, was turned into the 2007 movie "Talk to Me" starring Don Cheadle as Petey Greene.
Rackley is now a spokeswoman for CARE in Atlanta.
